HON. MINISTER BAKKABULINDI INAUGURATES NEW NCS BOARD

The Minister of State for Sports Hon. Charles Bakkabulindi on Wednesday February 21, 2018 inaugurated the National Council of Sports new Council (Board) led by Mr. Bosco Onyik at Copper Chimney Restaurant, Lugogo.

This comes shortly after the minister a fortnight ago renewed the appointments of the entire Board. In a meeting inaugurate the Board for the next two years ,(2018-2020) Hon. Bakkabulindi urged it to continue working as a team and achieve greater heights which is the reason for the reappointment of the full board.

NCS PLEDGES SUPPORT TO CRICKET CRANES CAMPAIGN TO THE ICC WORLD LEAGUE DIV 4

National Council of Sports shall financially support the National Cricket Men’s Team, the Cricket Cranes to the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division 4 slated for 28th April 2018 to 5th May 2018 in Malaysia.

The Assistant General Secretary- Technical, Mr. David Katende empathized the pledge during the flag off of the team to the Qatar and India Tour as a build up for the above World League tournament.

NCS CLEARS BADMINTON EQUIPMENT, UBA GIVES TO SCHOOLS

Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) has distributed equipment worth Ugx16 million from Badminton World Federation (BWF) to schools around Kampala.

The equipment includes rackets, nets, tin of balls and manuals for students to equip themselves and play the sport at their respective schools.

UBA CEO Simon Mugabi handed over the equipment to over 20 schools in the presence of National Council of Sports (NCS) Assistant General Secretary-Technical David Katende at Lugogo on Tuesday.

ONLY COMPLIANT SPORTS BODIES WILL SEND TEAMS FOR CWG -NCS

NCS Chairman Bosco Onyik advised federations/associations that have complied with their guidelines to step up preparations for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Australia in April 2018.
A number of national teams usually take part in Commonwealth Games and currently they are preparing to for the competitions.

But NCS Chairman Bosco Onyik said that it is only fair to allow only those national bodies that are complaint to be allowed to represent the country at the games.

YOUR HARDWORK WILL HELP US BARGAIN FOR SPORTS-GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

NCS general secretary Nicholas Muramagi and Commissioner of sports Omara Apita have advised sports federation and associations to keep improving national team performances at the international competitions to ease the bargain for sports funding.

While they applauded the Basketball, Football, Athletics, Cricket associations and the Paralympics Committee for good performances during 2017, NCS general secretary Nicholas Muramagi said that many of the associations have stepped up their performances.
