NCS TOURS KARAMOJA SUB REGION, INSPECTS WORKS ON THE TERYET TRAINING FACILITY

National Council of Sports has visited Moroto as part of the District Sports Tours in the Karamoja sub-region.

The main objective of the District Tours is to plan, organize and promote sports activities within the District up to national level in conjunction with District Associations.

NCS recognizes the pivotal role played by District local governments as key stakeholders in the development of community/grassroots sports development. NCS district sports outreaches is one of the ways/strategies to grow Sports at the grassroots.

Revitalization, establishment and functionalization of District Sports Councils (DSCs)can go a long way to revamp the practice, the development and transformation of sports in the districts. NCS recognizes that functional structure cannot be complete without the existence of functional DSCs.

Through District tours, NCS shall be able to capture and share challenges encountered in different localities around the country and jointly come up with workable strategies / interventions on how such prevailing hindrances can addressed.

‘Balanced Regional Development requires that all regions in the country are given opportunities and resources to develop in all sectors, sports inclusive’- Dr. Patrick Ogwel, NCS General Secretary.

‘Karamoja is a special region by nature of its culture, it can be hub for sports talents.’ Mdm Cecilia Anyakoit, NCS Council Member.
