TEAM UGANDA SETS OFF FOR THE 2018 WOODBALL WORLD CUP, THAILAND

Team Uganda comprising of Sixteen (16) athletes and Three (3) Officials depart today for Chiangduo, Thailand aboard Qatar Airways for the 8th Woodball World Cup slated for 24th to 29th July 2018. The Team headed by the NCS Chairman, Bosco Onyik hopes to outdo the previous performance of 2016 Woodball World Cup where Zawedde and Onesmus Atamba won the mixed doubles title, while the men's team finished 3rd overall.

'WE DID OUR PART' NCS TELLS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION ABOUT 2018 AFRICA YOUTH GAMES

National Council of Sports (NCS) has clarified that it was not part of preparations to take Team Uganda for the ongoing third Africa Youth Games in Algeria.

On Wednesday this week a group of parents stormed NCS offices in Lugogo demanding explanations for failure of their children to travel for the Games in Algiers.

But NCS Chairperson of Technical Committee Hajji Zubair Galiwango said that Council did not commit itself to provide air tickets to have the hockey team travel for the Games.

NCS FINANCIALLY BOOSTS TEAM UGANDA'S PARTICIPATION TO THE 3RD AFRICA YOUTH GAMES, ALGERIA

The Minister of Education and Sports (Sports), Honorable Charles Bakkabulindi has led a delegation of 50 athletes/officials to the 3rd Africa Youth Games in Alger, Algeria slated for 18th to 28th July 2018.

The Team that departs today aboard, Emirates Airways shall participate in Athletics, Badminton, Weightlifting, Handball, Rowing and Swimming.

XXI COMMONWEALTH GAMES MEDALISTS REWARDED WITH UGX. 100MILLION

National Council of Sports has rewarded Team Uganda’s medalists at the 21st Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast in Australia last April with Ugx. 100 Million.

Two Gold medalist Joshua Cheptegei was rewarded with Ugx. 50 Million for his historical victories in 5000m and 10000m races at the Commonwealth Games.

Stella Chesang got Ugx. 20 Million for winning Uganda's third gold medal in the women’s 10000m at the Games while silver medalist Solomon Mutai was rewarded with Ugx.15 Million for his efforts in men’s Marathon.

SERGEANT TUGUME SALUTES NCS AFTER PAN AMERICA GAMES VICTORY

Kickboxer sergeant Titus Tugume has applauded National Council of Sports and the Uganda Peoples Forces for helping him develop a career in the sport.

Mr. Tugume on Monday returned from the 2018 Pan American games in United States of America where he won a total of three medals.

He won two golds by Knock Out (KO) in kick light style and contact style and a silver medal in the point style at the 2018 Pan American games held in San Antonio.
