UGANDA FINISHES IN 2ND POSITION AT THE 2018 WOODBALL WORLD CUP IN THAILAND

The gallant National Woodball Team has been treated to a luncheon at Café Javas courtesy of National Council of Sports following their exceptional 2nd finish performance at the 8th Woodball World Cup in Thailand from 24th -30th July 2018. The Team also took part in the 10th Thailand International Open Woodball Championships.

Team Uganda that comprised of 11 men and 11 women scooped a Silver medal in the overall team performance, while the Women’s Team lifted a Gold medal. In the Stroke competition event, the Women’s team claimed a Bronze medal.

4 Bronze medals were also won by Denise Nanjeru (Singles Stroke Competition), Isaac Ariho and Kibuule Franco (Doubles Men Fairway Competition), Denise Nanjeru and Watson Mugume (Mixed Doubles Stroke) and Joan Mukoova and Joyce Nalubega (Doubles Women Stroke)

The Team’s participation in the global championships was immensely supported by National Council of Sports that contributed a tune of USD.60,000 towards accommodation and air tickets for 16 athletes.

The NCS Chairman, who was the head of delegation of the Team expressed pride in the team for putting up an exceptional performance at the Games. The team outdid the previous performance of 2016 Woodball World Cup where Zawedde and Onesmus Atamba won the mixed doubles title, while the men's team finished 3rd overall.
