UGANDA PUMMELS HOSTS BURUNDI IN EAC GAMES OPENER

The Ugandan women's volleyball eased past hosts Burundi in the opening contest of the 1st East Africa Community Games in Bujumbura on Sunday at Parque Courts.

It felt like a stroll in the park as the captain Margaret Namyalo-led side won the best of five contests 3-0.

They set the tone, taking a 9-1 lead in the first set that eventually ended 25-10. The second was tighter with some hard-fought points only for Uganda to prevail 25-13.

With the rest of Team Uganda cheering loudly, normal service resumed in the third that ended 25-9.

In the end, it was so easy that the women’s team held an hour-long training session thereafter.

Uganda, fully funded by National Council of Sports (NCS) is fielding teams in Boxing, Volleyball, Netball, Rugby 7s and lawn tennis.
