EAC GAMES: ‘YOUNG’ SHE PEARLS MAUL TANZANIA TO SEND SIGNAL OF INTENT

A collection of the national netball team’s understudies got off to a flying start at the ongoing 1st East Africa Community (EAC) Games in Bujumbura, Burundi on Wednesday.

The young She Pearls cruised past Tanzania 53-33 in a one-sided clash at the ENS outdoor court.

It emphasizes the kind of progress the Uganda Netball Federation (UNF) is making with the support of National Council of Sports (NCS) and government.

At the weekend, the senior team, the She Cranes, retained the Africa Netball Cup to qualify for the 2019 World Cup in Liverpool, England.

With the senior away, UNF fielded an understrength side, the U23 team, in the EAC Games.

They showed that they are more than able deputies and a clear force for the future.

Uganda is fielding teams in rugby 7s, netball, volleyball, boxing, athletics and lawn tennis in the EAC Games.

Disappointingly, football had to withdraw at the 11th hour due to organizational hiccups on the part of the hosts.
